How is it different from an anti-lift lock?

The difference lies in where the shutter is held and what happens to the bottom slat. Anti-lift locks and shutter blockers are well known products and each does its job. The T-profile reinforcement strengthens a different part.

Two points make the difference:

  1. Where it is anchored. Many of those systems hold the shutter at one point, often in the middle, or lock it against the floor or the windowsill. The T-profile reinforcement anchors it at both ends, against the wall.
  2. The bottom slat. If it is still the original one, it can bend even when held at one point. With the steel T-profile joined to it, it no longer bends.

There is a type by type comparison in T-profile reinforcement compared with locks and blockers.

Why can a reinforced shutter not be bent?

Because its bottom slat has a 4 mm steel T-profile joined to it, and because of its shape the T does not bend to either side. With it, nor does the slat. Read the full answer
