The lock is the mechanism that sits inside or on the door and moves the bolts that keep it shut. The cylinder is only one part: even if you fit the best one on the market, if the lock is worn or weak, the door is still weak. This family covers all the work we do with locks and deadbolts.
Repair or replace
A lock that is starting to fail gives signs: the key is harder to turn, the latch does not draw back properly, you have to push or pull the door to lock it. Often it can be fixed by adjusting, cleaning or replacing a part. At other times the lock is so worn, or so old, that the sensible thing is to replace it. We tell you clearly once we have seen it. You have the details in lock repair and in lock replacement.
More locking points
On a front door, the more anchoring points the lock has, the harder it is to force with a lever. Multipoint locks lock at several places at once. Security deadbolts add a second, independent lock, which makes a big difference on wooden doors in older homes. And hidden locks sit on the inside, with nothing visible from outside, so that anyone who wants to get in does not even know where to attack.
Aluminium, uPVC and interior doors
On the coast there are plenty of aluminium and uPVC patio doors, above all in bungalows and ground-floor homes. They have narrow locks, with different sizes from those of a wooden door, and the salty sea air takes a heavy toll on them. We deal with them separately in aluminium and uPVC locks. We also replace interior locks, for bathrooms and bedrooms.
What we do not do
We do not fit or repair electronic or smart locks or panic bars. We work with mechanical locks, which are the ones we know inside out.
How to request a quote
The quickest way is to send on WhatsApp a photo of the edge of the door, where the lock faceplate can be seen, and another of the whole door. With that we give you a fixed quote before we come. If something different turns up when we take it apart, we let you know and you decide.
