Algorfa is an inland town in the Vega Baja, on the road that runs along the right bank of the Segura between Orihuela and Bigastro on one side and Rojales and Guardamar on the other. It borders Almoradí, Benejúzar, Benijófar, Los Montesinos, Orihuela and Rojales. From Torrevieja it is about twenty kilometres by car.
From farming village to a town of urbanisations
For a long time Algorfa lived from irrigated farming, with orange and lemon trees and artichokes. Today its economy has shifted a great deal towards services and residential tourism. The La Finca golf course and the urbanisations around it have changed the town.
The INE gives it around 3,800 inhabitants, and Algorfa is among the municipalities in the province where foreign nationals make up more than half of the residents, with a large British community. We look after you on WhatsApp in your own language.
The urbanisations of Algorfa
As well as the town, Algorfa has three main urbanisations: Lo Crispín, Castillo de Montemar and Montebello, made up of villas and apartments. Lo Crispín is on the southern edge of the municipality, a short distance from the town. Next to the La Finca golf course there are also homes that attract both year-round residents and those who come for a season.
What we find in these areas:
- Villas with a plot, railings and several outside doors.
- Apartments on complexes with a pool, an entrance gate and communal areas.
- Houses that are shut for weeks or months while their owners are away.
- Flats and villas let by the season, which many people pass through.
The town centre
In the centre of Algorfa there are village houses and flats belonging to long-standing residents. The jobs there are those of any town in the Vega: worn lock cylinders, old locks that are worth modernising, wooden doors that rub and the odd key snapped inside the lock.
What we are asked for most in Algorfa
A new lock cylinder when you buy
When you buy a resale villa or apartment and are handed the keys, you have no way of knowing how many copies are left. That is why we recommend you change the lock cylinder in Algorfa on the first day.
Seasonal lets
If you let your property by the season, the keys pass through many hands. Some owners change the lock cylinder every so often or after a set of keys has not come back. We cover it on the holiday rentals page.
Shutters on single-storey villas
Many villas have all their shutters at garden level. Shutter reinforcement in Algorfa is the job that gives the most peace of mind to those going away for a while. We reinforce shutters so they cannot be lifted or bent, with a steel T-profile under the bottom slat and bolts at each end that lock into the wall. Send us a photo and we will tell you whether yours can be reinforced.
Door opening
Keys inside, a door slammed shut as you step out onto the terrace, a lock jammed after weeks without being opened. We open without causing damage when the lock allows it; you will find the details under door opening in Algorfa.
Before you go away for a while
If you are going to leave the house shut up, spend ten minutes checking it: that the main door locks with every turn, that the terrace doors close properly and cannot be lifted off their tracks, that the low shutters are protected and that only the right people have a key. If anything does not convince you, a photo on WhatsApp is enough to get started.
How we work
We give you a fixed quote before we start. If, when we arrive, we see the job is different, we let you know and do not carry on without your agreement. You pay by card, Bizum or cash. Before opening any door, we check that the person asking has the right to enter.
