When people think about security, almost everyone looks at the door. But on the coast there are many bungalows, ground-floor homes and townhouses with windows and patio doors protected only by a roller shutter. An ordinary shutter can be lifted from below or bent at the bottom slat until there is a gap. That is why this family has two jobs: reinforcing the shutter and repairing it when it fails.
T-profile shutter security
It is our own system. We reinforce roller shutters so they cannot be lifted or bent. We glue and screw a T-shaped steel profile of 4 mm under the bottom slat. Because of its shape, a T does not bend in any direction, so that slat can no longer be bent. At both ends of the slat there are bolts that slot into the wall. With the slat rigid and held at both sides, the shutter becomes very hard to open from outside.
What is usually sold for this are locks that anchor at one point, to the floor or the frame. Our reinforcement works on the whole slat and holds the shutter at both ends. It is fully explained in shutter security and step by step in how the T-profile reinforcement works.
Who it makes most sense for
For ground-floor homes and bungalows, where the shutter is within anyone’s reach from the street or the garden. For holiday homes that stand empty for a good part of the year. If your shutter has been forced
If you find the shutter lifted or bent, do not touch it more than necessary and take photos before anything else, in case you have to report it to the insurance company. Then message us and we will see whether it can be repaired and whether it is worth reinforcing it at the same time.
