It is one of a locksmith’s quickest jobs: with the right size and the lock in good condition, it is changed in no time and you are left with your new keys.
What can make it take longer:
- An unusual size, which has to be sourced separately.
- A seized or broken cylinder that is hard to remove.
- A misaligned lock, which is best fixed at the same time so the new key turns smoothly.
- Fitting an escutcheon, which is another small job in itself.
To keep it quick, send us a photo beforehand of the cylinder from the outside and of the edge of the door, with the screw that holds it. That way we bring exactly the right size.
The whole process is in cylinder replacement.
