Are the shutters the weak point of a ground floor flat by the beach?

Often, yes. In a ground floor flat or bungalow the shutter can be reached from the street or the garden, and an ordinary shutter can be lifted from below or have its bottom slat bent.

It happens above all in homes that have been shut for months, with all the shutters down, where nobody sees what goes on for hours on end.

What we do is armour the shutter: a steel T-profile, bonded and screwed underneath the bottom slat, which does not bend in any direction, with bolts at both ends that lock into the wall. In short, we armour shutters so they cannot be lifted or bent.

It is worth checking the door at the same time: there is little point in armouring the shutter if the cylinder on the front door is one of the basic ones. To find out whether your shutter can be armoured, send us a photo on WhatsApp. We explain it in shutter security.

What do I do if I lose my keys while on holiday?

If you cannot get in, we open up, 24 hours a day. If the lost key had anything on it that identifies the house, it is worth changing the cylinder before you leave. Read the full answer

Is an alarm any use if the lock is poor?

It helps, but it is not enough: the alarm warns you once they are already in, and a lock that opens easily gives plenty of time. Ideally the door holds them up and the alarm warns. Read the full answer
