An aluminium shutter is a roller shutter whose slats are made of roll-formed aluminium sheet, usually with an insulating fill inside. It is heavier and stiffer than a PVC shutter.
It copes better with the strong sun on the coast, because it does not turn brittle like plastic, and it does not rust like steel. Knocks will dent the sheet, though.
Being aluminium does not make it a security shutter. The slat is still a thin sheet that can be lifted or bent from below. If it is on a ground floor or in a house that stays shut for months, take a look at shutter security: we reinforce shutters so they cannot be lifted or bent.
