Anti-bump certification, “certificación antibumping” in Spanish, is proof that a cylinder has passed a test against bumping, carried out by a laboratory or body independent of the manufacturer. It is not the same as a simple “anti-bump” printed on the box, which may be no more than a sales claim.
To find out whether it is serious, check:
- Which test or standard it quotes and which body carried it out.
- Whether the certificate covers that specific model.
- Whether the manufacturer publishes it on its technical sheet or supplies it with the product.
If the seller cannot answer those questions, treat the label with caution.
A cylinder with anti-bump certification still needs other protection, such as anti-break and anti-pull, and a suitable escutcheon. Bumping is only one of the possible attacks.
