The attack resistance grade, “grado de resistencia” in Spanish, is the classification of a cylinder, a lock or a door according to how well it withstands, in standard tests, attacks by force or manipulation. For cylinders it appears as attack resistance within the UNE-EN 1303 code; complete doors are classified under other standards with their own classes.
It is not the same as key security. Key security is mainly about the number of possible combinations and how hard it is to open without the correct key; attack resistance is about what the product withstands under physical attack, such as drilling or twisting.
Both matter for your door, and a very high one is of little use if the other is low.
The resistance of a cylinder also depends on how it is fitted. A well rated cylinder that sticks out beyond the escutcheon loses much of what the test promised. We help you choose and fit one with our security cylinders.
