An anti-bump cylinder is a cylinder built to resist bumping, the technique that tries to open a lock by striking a modified key so that the pins jump for a split second. Basic standard cylinders are often vulnerable; anti-bump cylinders change the internal design so that the strike achieves nothing.
They manage this with special pins, with locking systems that do not rely on the pins alone, or with key profiles that make it hard to produce the attack key. Each manufacturer has its own solution.
You cannot tell from the outside. Check the packaging, the key card or the technical sheet; a genuine anti-bump cylinder says so and usually names the test it has passed. If you have no paperwork, send us a photo of the key and the face of the cylinder.
If your cylinder is old, replacing it with a security cylinder is one of the most effective upgrades for your door.
