An extruded aluminium shutter is one whose slats are made in a single piece by forcing the aluminium through a die, with no fill. That makes them thicker, tougher and heavier than roll-formed sheet slats.
You can recognise it because the slat does not sound hollow and is harder to dent. It is common on business premises, offices and homes looking for more strength, and it is often sold as a security shutter.
It holds out better than a PVC or ordinary aluminium shutter, but the point of attack is still the same: the bottom slat and the way it is held at the bottom. If you want to reinforce that point without replacing the shutter, take a look at shutter security.
