A high security cylinder, “cilindro de alta seguridad” in Spanish, is a cylinder that brings together several protections against the most common attacks, with a protected profile key and tests to back it up. There is no single definition: each manufacturer uses the expression in its own way, so it is worth checking what it really includes.
What a cylinder at this level usually has:
- Anti-bump and anti-pick protection, with security pins and additional locking.
- Anti-break or anti-snap protection.
- Anti-drill inserts and anti-pull reinforcement.
- A patented key with an ownership card.
Look on the technical sheet for the classification under the cylinder standard, which tests it has passed and who carried them out. Be wary of “high security” with no data behind it.
And remember that the cylinder is one part of the whole: without a suitable escutcheon and a good lock, it loses effectiveness. We help you choose with our cylinder replacement service and our security cylinders.
