Modular cylinder

A modular cylinder, “cilindro modular” in Spanish, is a cylinder whose length on each side can be adjusted by adding or changing parts, instead of being made to a fixed size. That way the same model works on doors of different thickness or with different escutcheons.

It is useful when an unusual size is needed, in renovations where the thickness of the door changes, or in communities and companies that want the same key system on many different doors.

It has its limitations. Each manufacturer has its own module system and they are not interchangeable between brands. It is also worth checking that the final configuration keeps the protections of the model, such as resistance to breaking, because not every combination behaves in the same way.
