A cog cylinder, “bombín de rueda” in Spanish, is a cylinder that, instead of the usual tongue shaped cam, has a small toothed wheel. When the key turns, that wheel meshes with the lock mechanism and moves it.

It appears in some locks on security doors and multipoint locks whose mechanism works by gears.

You can recognise it once removed: in the centre, where an ordinary cylinder has the cam, you will see a cog with teeth. It cannot be replaced with a standard cam euro cylinder even if it fits from the outside, because it would not move the lock. You need the same type of wheel and the correct size.

If your door has this type of cylinder and you want to replace or upgrade it, send us a photo of the cylinder and of the lock from the edge of the door. We will tell you which replacement it needs with our cylinder replacement service.
