A lock bypass, “by-pass” in Spanish, is an opening that skips the cylinder: instead of defeating the pins, it works directly on the locking mechanism, whether that is the bolt, the cam or the latch. However good the cylinder is, it makes no difference if it can be got round.
Typical examples are the credit card technique on the latch, reaching the bolt through a gap in the frame or turning an inside knob that can be reached from outside.
That is why the security of a door is a whole. A high security cylinder fitted in a simple lock, with the latch exposed or a door with gaps, does not protect as it should.
Make sure you always lock with the key, that the door is well adjusted and that there are no gaps or glass panels that allow someone to reach the mechanisms inside. We help you assess the whole door with our security upgrade and our security cylinders.
