Locksmith

A locksmith is the tradesperson who fits, repairs and opens locks, lock cylinders, deadbolts and other fastenings on doors, shutters and business premises. They also advise on how to improve the security of a home or a business.

The work ranges from opening a door when someone is locked out to changing a lock cylinder, adjusting a door that rubs or fitting an escutcheon. A good locksmith checks before opening that the person asking has the right to go in.
