Salt air corrosion is the wear on metal caused by the sea salt carried in the air on the coast. The salt settles, absorbs moisture and greatly speeds up oxidation.

In Torrevieja and all along the coastal strip of la Vega Baja it is one of the most common causes of lock faults. It affects lock cylinders, aluminium door locks, metal fastenings, hinges and shutter axles.

You notice it in a key that goes in stiffly, a cylinder with a stained face, a latch that will not slide or a fastening that has to be forced. It gets worse in homes that stay shut up for months, because nobody uses the lock. If this happens to you, do not force the key. We check and fix whatever can be fixed in lock repair.
