A shutter floor lock is the lock at the bottom of a roller shutter door that secures it by driving a bolt into a hole or a keep anchored in the ground. It is very common on shops, because it holds the shutter right where it would be easiest to lift.
It can be in the centre of the shutter or towards one side, and it is operated with a key, usually with a cylinder. On wide shutters it is sometimes combined with side locks that secure it against the guide rails.
Its weak point is the keep in the floor: it fills with sand, water or dirt and the bolt stops going in. If you find you have to stand on the shutter or force the key to lock it, clean out that hole before something breaks. We replace and repair these locks, with a security cylinder if you need one: you will find it in roller shutter locks.
