It is worth changing it whenever you are not sure who might have a key to your home, and also when the cylinder no longer works properly or does not protect enough.
The most common cases:
- You have lost your keys or they have been stolen.
- You have just bought or rented the home and do not know how many copies there are.
- The tenant has changed or someone who had a key has left.
- There has been an attempted break in and the cylinder has marks on it.
- The key goes in stiffly, turns badly or sticks.
- The cylinder is basic, sticks out from the door and has no protection at all.
Changing a cylinder does not mean changing the lock, so it is a simple upgrade. It is explained in cylinder replacement.
