What is a door closer and where is it worth fitting one?

A door closer is a mechanism, usually an arm with a hydraulic body, that closes the door by itself after it has been opened and slows it down so it does not slam.

Where it makes most sense:

Before choosing one you need to look at the weight and width of the leaf, which way it opens and whether the door needs to stay open at any point. A small closer on a heavy door will not manage to shut it, and one that is too strong makes the door hard to open.

One more thing: if the door already rubs or has dropped, it has to be adjusted first. You can see how we fit them in door closer installation.
