A double clutch cylinder, “bombín de doble embrague” in Spanish, is a cylinder that lets you open with the key from one side even when there is a key left in on the other. With an ordinary cylinder, if someone leaves the key in on the inside, from outside you cannot even get yours in.
It is very useful in homes with children or elderly people, who leave the key in on the inside without realising, and in homes where someone lives alone: if something happens to them, a relative with a key can get in. It also saves a lot of trouble with keys forgotten in the lock.
To find out whether you have one, leave a key in on the inside and try to open from outside with another. If yours goes in and turns, it has a double clutch.
It can be combined with anti-bump and anti-break protection, so you do not have to choose between convenience and security. We go through it with you as part of the cylinder replacement.
