Labour is the part of the price of a job that covers the tradesperson’s time and skill, separate from the materials used and, where there is one, the travel charge.

For locksmith work it is not always measured by the hour: opening a door without damage may take little time and a lot of technique, and fitting a multipoint lock involves adjustments you do not see. That is why it is often quoted per finished job.

If you are given a quote, check that it says which work is included and which materials will be fitted, with their brand and model. We give you a fixed quote before we start, and if the job changes once we check on site, we tell you before carrying on. More under emergencies.

Questions that mention it
