A transponder key is one with a small chip in its head that identifies itself wirelessly to a nearby reader. It does not need a battery: the reader itself supplies the energy it needs to respond.
Its best known use is in cars: the immobiliser will not let the engine start if it does not recognise the transponder, even if the metal part turns in the ignition. It is also used in some access systems for buildings and garages.
You should know that we do not work on vehicles or access control systems, and we do not copy keys. What we do is mechanical locks and lock cylinders for homes, business premises, garages and storerooms. If what concerns you is your front door, take a look at lock cylinder replacement.
