An up-and-over door is a door with a single rigid leaf that, when opened, lifts and swings upwards until it sits parallel to the ceiling. It is the typical garage door on villas, townhouses and bungalows, and on some communal garages.
So that it can be lifted by hand it has counterweights or springs that balance its weight, and side tracks along which it travels. It can be manual or motorised, and many include a pedestrian door in the leaf itself.
Manual ones lock with a lock in the centre of the leaf that drives bolts out to the sides or into the floor. If you have lost the key or the lock has seized with the damp, we open it; the door itself, its springs and its motor we do not repair. There is more in garage and storeroom opening.
