As a rule, one service a year is enough for a manual shutter in normal use. If the premises are on the seafront or stay shut for months out of season, it is also worth doing one before reopening.
A service covers:
- The condition and cleanliness of the guide rails.
- The tension of the spring on the axle, so the shutter goes up evenly balanced.
- The slats, in case any are bent or about to come out.
- The lock and the cylinder, which the salty air seizes up.
There is no need to wait for the date if you notice warning signs: a new noise, the shutter feeling heavier than before, coming down crooked or the key being stiff. The sooner it is put right, the simpler it is.
If you have several premises, we can organise the servicing for all of them. There is more information in metal roller shutter repair.
