An anti-snap cylinder is a cylinder built to resist snapping, the attack that breaks a euro cylinder at its centre, where the fixing screw sits, to reach the mechanism. In Spain it goes by the same English word, “antisnapping”.
These cylinders have a break line on the outer side: under attack only that part breaks off and the rest stays intact, with the cam locked. Some models also include a steel bar or a mechanism that jams when it detects the break.
Some manufacturers mark it on the face of the cylinder or on the packaging, and the technical sheet should state it. In the UK the TS007 specification has made this kind of protection very popular, and many British owners in the area are already familiar with it.
Its best partner is a security escutcheon that does not leave the cylinder exposed. We advise you on security cylinders.
