The housing, “estátor” in Spanish, is the fixed outer body of the cylinder. The plug turns inside it, and it holds the driver pins and their springs, in the pin chambers. It is the part you see from outside and the one fixed to the lock with the fixing screw.

Its strength has a big bearing on the security of the cylinder: it is where the steel bars against pulling, the anti-drill inserts and the break line of anti-snap models are placed. A brass housing with no reinforcement is easy to snap or drill.

Over the years the housing suffers too. In coastal areas such as Torrevieja salt air attacks the brass, the face becomes pitted or turns greenish and the key starts to go in badly.

If your cylinder has a pitted or greenish face, it is a good time to replace it. We help you with the cylinder replacement.
