Door reinforcement means strengthening a door, its frame or its locking points with steel parts so that it holds out better against an attempt to force it. It can come from the factory, as with security doors, or be added later to a door that is already fitted.
On an existing door you can reinforce the leaf with steel sheeting, strengthen the frame and the strike plate, add bolts and fit security hinges or hinge bolts. It is a good option for patio doors, storerooms or ground floor homes where you do not want to replace the whole door. You will find it in door reinforcement.
The same word is also used for shutters, which on the coast are often the weakest point of a ground floor property. There we do something different: we reinforce the shutters so they cannot be lifted or bent. We explain it in shutter security.
