What helps is making getting in slow, difficult and noticeable: a security cylinder with an escutcheon, an extra deadbolt, reinforced shutters and a house that does not look abandoned.
Point by point:
- The door: an anti-bump, anti-extraction cylinder, protected by an escutcheon and, if the door allows it, a security deadbolt.
- Ground floor shutters: we armour shutters so they cannot be lifted or bent.
- Back and terrace doors: they are often the easiest way in.
- Giveaway signs: a full letterbox, shutters always down in the middle of summer, long grass.
Nobody can guarantee that a house will be free of attempts, but you can make sure it is not the easiest one on the street. We do not give legal advice: our job is to put physical obstacles in the way. We explain it in protection against squatters.
