A security lock is one designed to resist attempts to open it without the key and forced attacks, with a mechanism that is hard to manipulate, steel parts and solid fixing in the door. It is not a specific model but a level of protection.

It usually combines several things: a security cylinder protected against bumping, picking and snapping, several locking points, an escutcheon covering the cylinder and a strong strike plate in the frame. A good lock with a weak cylinder, or with no escutcheon, only does half the job.

To get an idea of yours, look at the cylinder: if it sticks out from the door, it is easy to snap. You can take our security test and see the options under lock installation.
