Door opening in Pilar de la Horadada

The last municipality in the province before Murcia has a village, a coastline and urbanisations among the pines. We open doors in all three, every day.

Pilar de la Horadada is at the southern tip of the province of Alicante, right on the border with the Region of Murcia, about twenty-five kilometres from Torrevieja. It has more than 24,000 residents according to the INE, and almost four in ten are foreign nationals. What matters for a door opening is that there are three very different places within the same municipality, and each one has its own doors.

On the coast: beach apartments and bungalows

In Mil Palmeras and in Torre de la Horadada many homes fill up in summer and at weekends and are shut the rest of the year. The typical openings are seasonal ones: the apartment door that slams shut in the draught, the key lost on the beach, or the one left in the lock on the inside while you step out onto the terrace.

And the other side of it: the owner who comes back after months away and finds that the cylinder, with the salt air on the seafront, no longer turns. If that is you, do not force the key and send us a photo.

In the village: everyday doors

In the centre of Pilar there are flats, one and two storey houses and ground floor shops, lived in all year round. Here openings usually come from wear: a heavily used cylinder that one day only turns halfway, a key that snaps or an old lock that stops responding. And in shops, a shutter or a premises door that will not open first thing in the morning. For that we have shop and business opening.

Inland: Pinar de Campoverde

Pinar de Campoverde is an urbanisation in the inland part of the municipality, in a pine wood area, with many detached villas on their own plot with a pool. In a villa like that the front door is not the only one: there is a gate, a terrace door and often a garage. If you get locked out, tell us which way you would like to get in and we will tell you which opening is simplest.

Checking before we open

Before opening any door we check that whoever is asking has the right to enter that home. On the coast, with so many houses shut for part of the year, that is what protects owners who are not here. We explain how that is proved when you call, and if the papers are locked inside, let us know too.
