What do I do first after a burglary at home?

If the door has been forced or is open, do not go in: someone may still be inside. Move away, call the police and wait.

Then, in this order:

  1. Do not touch or tidy anything until the police have seen it.
  2. Take photos of the door, the lock, the windows and anything that has been turned over.
  3. Report it to the police with a list of what is missing.
  4. Let your insurer know and ask what they need.
  5. Call the locksmith so the house is secured that same night.

If the lock is beyond use, we can fit a temporary cylinder so the house is locked and carry out the permanent repair later. Keep the broken parts.

If your keys have been stolen, change the cylinder as soon as possible, even if the door is not damaged. We work 24 hours a day. There is more information in emergencies.
