A door motor is the electric unit that provides the power needed to open and close a door automatically. It is part of an automation system together with the control board, the remote controls and the sensors.

The type depends on the door. On roller shutters it usually sits inside the barrel or next to it, above the opening. On sliding gates it sits to one side, on the ground, with a pinion that engages with a toothed rack. Up-and-over and sectional doors usually have a ceiling mounted motor with a rail, and swing gates have articulated arms.

If a motor stops responding, the first thing is to check the power and the remote control, and there is usually a manual release so you can move the door. We do not fit or repair motors; that work is for an automation technician. Our work is manual roller shutters and their locks: roller shutter repair.
