A locksmith expert report is a document in which a lock expert describes the condition of a lock or a door and explains, with photographs, whether it has been forced and in what way.
It usually records the details of the property and of the visit, the type of door, lock and cylinder, the signs found (lever marks, a snapped cylinder, scratches on the keyway, a lifted escutcheon) and the most likely method of forcing.
It is requested mainly to accompany a police report, for an insurance claim or to make a claim against a community of owners or a landlord. When a matter reaches the courts, what is submitted is an expert opinion, and which expert is best suited is for your lawyer to decide.
After a burglary or an attempt, we produce the report on the lock and leave the door locked on the same visit. The details are on our forced lock report page.
