Lock cylinder replacement in Orihuela Costa

A huge number of homes are sold and let on the Orihuela coast. A new cylinder is the first thing you should fit when you get the keys.

From Punta Prima to Dehesa de Campoamor, Orihuela Costa sees a lot of resale homes changing hands and a lot of seasonal letting. Many owners live outside Spain and manage their home from a distance, with keys shared out between the agency, the rental manager, the cleaners and a trusted neighbour. Changing the cylinder is the simplest way to know who can get into your home.

The keys to an urbanisation home

In a property in La Zenia, Villamartín or Playa Flamenca it is common for keys to exist belonging to:

None of those people need have bad intentions, but you do not know how many copies are still around. That is why we recommend changing the cylinder the same day you are handed the keys. You have it step by step in moving house or buying a home.

Front door, terrace and storage room on one key

Many apartments and bungalows on the coast have a front door, a terrace door with a cylinder and a storage room or garage. If we change them at the same time, we can fit cylinders that open with the same key, so you no longer have to carry a whole bunch. We explain this in keyed alike cylinders.

The keys to the gate, the block entrance and the pool belong to the community of owners. We do not touch those unless the community decides so.

Seafront or inland

A cylinder does not wear the same way in Cabo Roig or Punta Prima, with the sea a few steps away, as in Villamartín or Las Filipinas, further inland. On the seafront salt dirties the cylinder and makes the key go in stiffly sooner than you would expect. If you spend long spells away, it is worth having a security cylinder on the front door that does not stick out: a cylinder that sticks out is easier to grip and break from outside.

If you are outside Spain

If you are an owner and you are not here, message us on WhatsApp in your language and we will work out with you how to do the change and who we hand the new keys to. We never change the cylinder on a tenant who is still living in the home: the change is made once the property has been handed back.

How we do it

  1. You send us a photo of the cylinder from outside and another of the edge of the door.
  2. We suggest the right cylinder and give you a fixed quote, with the cylinder included.
  3. At your door we check the exact size before fitting the new one.
  4. We test every lock and hand you the keys.

If the size or the job changes once we see it, we tell you and do not carry on without your agreement. You can pay by card, Bizum or cash. More details of the service in lock cylinder replacement and of the area in locksmith in Orihuela Costa.
