Door opening in Orihuela Costa

Orihuela Costa is almost entirely urbanisations: complexes of apartments and bungalows around a pool, townhouses with their own garden and villas on their own plot, from Punta Prima to Dehesa de Campoamor. Most are second homes, and many of their owners live in central and northern Europe. That gives door openings here their own situations, quite different from those in a town flat.

Inside the complex but outside your home

In Playa Flamenca, La Zenia or Los Dolses the normal thing is to live inside a complex with an entrance gate. If your house keys are locked inside, the keys to the gate and the block entrance are often in there too. Before you call us, see whether a neighbour or the urbanisation’s maintenance staff can let you through the communal entrance. That way, when we arrive, only the door of your home is left.

Aluminium and PVC terrace doors onto the garden

In the bungalows of Cabo Roig, Aguamarina or Lomas de Cabo Roig the door that gets the most use in summer is the sliding terrace door. It blows shut in the wind, jams in its track, or the catch will not respond because salt has seized it. The house opened up after months away

In winter there are whole complexes with every shutter down. When the owner comes back, the lock has not moved for months and has had the sea air on it all that time. It is very common for the key to go in but not turn, or to turn only halfway. Do not force it: that is the quickest way to snap the key inside. Send us a photo and we will tell you what to do.

It also happens the other way round: the owner is back home in their own country and the person locked out is a relative, a friend or a tenant. Before opening we check that whoever is asking has the right to get in; we explain how that is proved when you call. How we work here

• We give you a fixed quote before we start, ideally from a photo of the door and the lock.
• We try to open without damage whenever the door allows it. If the cylinder has to be sacrificed, we tell you beforehand and it is included in the quote.
• If the job turns out different when we arrive, we tell you and do not carry on without your agreement.
• You can pay by card, Bizum or cash.
