Ciudad Quesada takes up the southern part of the municipality of Rojales, about six kilometres from the Mediterranean. It is not on the coast, but the beaches of Torrevieja, La Mata and Guardamar are close by, and for us it is an everyday working area. It is named after the Quesada family, who developed the urbanisation, and today it has around thirty thousand homes: more than many towns in the district.

What the houses are like

Ciudad Quesada is a patchwork of urbanisations: villas with a plot and a pool, townhouses, bungalows on complexes with a communal pool and apartments, around the La Marquesa golf course. There are houses several decades old and new developments, and that shows in the doors and locks: some have a modern European-profile cylinder and others still have old-style locks.
