Torrevieja and the Vega Baja are home to many people who have come from other countries, some to live here all year round and others to spend long spells here. When you have a problem with a lock, the last thing you want is not to understand what is going to be done or what you will pay. That is why you can message us on WhatsApp in your own language and we will reply in the same language.
Local locksmiths, born and bred here
We are Spanish locksmiths, Torrevieja born and bred, with 15 years of experience. We know the homes in the area, the urbanisations with their communal entrances, the ground floor bungalows and how the salty air affects locks. We like to work calmly, explain things and make sure you know exactly what is being done to your door.
What newcomers usually ask us
Spanish doors can be different from the ones in your home country. Some common questions:
- Old locks with a big key. Older houses still have lever locks. They can be converted to a euro cylinder with lever lock to cylinder conversion, keeping the door.
- You have bought the house and do not know who has keys. The sensible thing is a cylinder change on day one.
- External shutters. Almost every window here has one, and on the ground floor they are a weak point. Shutter reinforcement means they cannot be lifted or bent.
- You are locked out. We carry out door opening at any hour, first checking that you have the right to enter. We explain how you show this when you call.
If you are concerned about the security of the house in general, a security upgrade with a security cylinder, an escutcheon or a bolt is usually the best place to start.
How we work with you
- Message us on WhatsApp in your own language and send us a photo of the lock or the door.
- We give you a fixed quote in writing before we start, so you can read it calmly or translate it if you need to.
- If the job changes when we check it on site, we explain it to you and do not carry on unless you are happy.
- We give you an invoice for the work.
- You can pay by card, Bizum or cash.
If you spend part of the year away, we can also coordinate with a neighbour or whoever looks after your home while you are not here.
Tips for your home in Spain
- Keep a spare key with someone you trust who lives nearby.
- Before you go away for a while, lock with every turn of the key and lower the shutters.
- If a key starts to stick, do not wait for it to snap inside. Let us know first.
- Always ask for a written quote before any work, with us or anyone else. It is your right and it avoids misunderstandings.
Wherever you are in the Vega Baja, message us in your own language and we will sort it out.
