Your home is where a lock matters most. If the door slams shut with the keys inside, if you lose your key ring on the beach or if one day you notice the cylinder is stiff to turn, you want someone local who will come out, explain what is wrong and leave it right. That is what we do in Torrevieja and the Vega Baja, at any hour and every day.
What tends to happen in a home
In a flat or a bungalow the problems are fairly repetitive:
- You are locked out because the door has slammed shut or because the keys have been left in the lock on the inside.
- The key snaps inside the cylinder or stops turning.
- You have lost your keys, they have been stolen or you have just bought the house and do not know how many copies are out there.
- Someone has tried to force the door or the shutter and you want to reinforce it.
- The door rubs, does not close properly or the bolt will not go into the strike plate.
On the coast there is also a silent enemy: the salty air. Locks on doors that open onto the terrace or the garden rust sooner and end up stiff. Greasing them in time or fitting a new cylinder saves you from being left with the key in your hand.
Which services suit you
If you are locked out, the first thing is door opening. We always try to open without breaking anything, and before opening we check that you have the right to enter that home. We explain how you show this when you call us.
When the problem is the keys, the most practical option is nearly always a cylinder change: the cylinder is replaced, you get new keys and the old ones stop working. If your door has a basic cylinder, it is worth upgrading to one of the security cylinders, which stand up much better to snapping attempts and lock picking.
If you are concerned about the security of the house in general, a security upgrade can include a protective escutcheon, a bolt, anti-lever hinges or reinforcement of the door leaf. And if you live on the ground floor or in a bungalow, shutter reinforcement is one of the things that gives most peace of mind: we reinforce shutters so they cannot be lifted or bent.
How we work with you
The quickest way is to send us a photo of the lock, the cylinder or the door on WhatsApp. With that we can tell you what is needed and give you a fixed quote before we start. If, when we arrive, we see that the job is different from what the photo suggested, we tell you and do not carry on until you are happy.
When we finish, we give you an invoice for the work. You can pay by card, by Bizum or in cash, whichever suits you best.
A few tips for your home
- Do not force a key that will not turn. If you turn it with pliers you can snap it inside and make the opening harder.
- Do not put cooking oil or thick grease in the cylinder. It attracts dust and sand and makes things worse.
- If you have bought a resale home, change the cylinder as soon as possible. You do not know who still has keys.
- If you are going away for a few days, lock with the key even if you will be back soon. A door shut only on the latch is much easier to open.
We are Torrevieja locksmiths, born and bred here, with 15 years of experience. If you have any question about the lock on your home, message us and we will look at it together.
