First of all, do not force it or yank at it: that is how slats get bent and springs come loose, and a small fault turns into a big one.
Check these things first:
- That the lock is fully open and the bolts have come out of the floor or the guide rail.
- That there is nothing stuck in the guide rails, such as sand, a stone or a forgotten padlock.
- That the shutter has not come down crooked, with a slat out of place.
If all of that is fine and it still feels heavy or will not go up, the usual cause is that the axle spring has lost its strength or a guide rail is bent. That is a job for a locksmith.
Send us a short video on WhatsApp of you lifting the shutter and we will tell you what is wrong. If it is a motorised shutter and the fault is in the motor, we do not touch that. There is more in metal roller shutter repair.
