San Fulgencio lies in the northern part of the Vega Baja, about twenty kilometres from Torrevieja, and has no coastline of its own even though Guardamar is right next door. It has two very different centres: the village, surrounded by market gardens, and about five and a half kilometres away the La Marina urbanisation, which takes in several areas such as La Marina, El Oasis, Monte Victoria and El Oral. Around two in every three residents are foreign nationals, mainly British and German.
In La Marina: single storey villas
La Marina is nearly all urbanisation housing: villas on their own plot, townhouses and bungalows, many of them single storey, with a gate, a garden and a terrace door. The openings we see most here:
- The front door pulled shut when you step out into the garden or take the rubbish out.
- The plot gate locked with the keys inside the house.
- The key snapped inside a cylinder that had been stiff for a while.
If your key has broken in the lock, do not try to get the piece out with whatever you have to hand, as you will only push it further in. You will find what to do in key broken in the lock.
Many La Marina residents find it easier to explain themselves in English or German. Message us on WhatsApp in your language, send us a photo of the door and we will give you a fixed quote before we come.
The empty house that will not open
Some La Marina residents spend weeks or months back in their own country. When they return, the lock may be seized or, in the worst case, forced. If you see signs that someone has tried to get in, do not touch anything and contact the Guardia Civil first. Then we open up, change whatever is needed and leave the house locking properly. We explain this in burglary at home.
In San Fulgencio village
In the centre there are village houses and flats belonging to lifelong residents. Here openings usually come from wear: a cylinder that no longer turns smoothly, a lock that is decades old or a wooden door that has dropped and rubs. We also open premises and shops in the village.
Before we open
On an urbanisation with so many houses left empty for part of the year, the person asking us to open is sometimes a neighbour, a friend or someone looking after the house. Before opening we check that whoever is asking has the right to get in; we explain how that is proved when you call. It is what protects your house when you are the one who is away.
How we work
A fixed quote before we touch the door. We try to open without damage whenever the door and the lock allow it, and if the cylinder has to be sacrificed, we tell you beforehand. If the job changes when we arrive, we tell you and do not carry on without your agreement. You can pay by card, Bizum or cash.
You will find the full service in door opening and everything we do in the municipality in locksmith in San Fulgencio.
