Las Mimosas is an inland residential urbanisation in Orihuela Costa, about two kilometres from the sea. It lies around La Florida and very close to Los Dolses, Villamartín and Los Balcones, with La Zenia and its shopping area a short drive away. In the Orihuela municipal register it is listed together with La Chismosa as a single locality.

Villas and the odd complex

It is more an area of houses than of blocks. There are detached villas, some single-storey next to a public park, and apartment complexes with a communal pool and a basement garage. The streets are quiet, away from the bustle of the beach, and a good many of the owners are Europeans who split the year between their home country and the Costa Blanca.

That has two sides. On the one hand, it is an area of settled neighbours and little noise. On the other, a detached villa that is left shut for weeks has no neighbour across the landing to notice anything odd.
