Legal matters and proof of access

Opening a door means going into someone’s home. That is why, before opening, we check that the person asking has the right to enter. We explain how that is shown when you call, because it depends on each case.

In this group we answer why we do it, what happens if your papers have been left inside and what happens in delicate situations: the home of a relative who has died, a house bought at auction, a court-ordered eviction, a tenant or a partner who no longer lives there.

We do not give legal advice. We tell you how we work and, when the matter is a legal one, we recommend that you consult a lawyer or whoever is handling your case. If what you need is door opening, we work 24 hours a day.

Why does the locksmith ask for ID and proof of address?
