Parts guarantee

A parts guarantee is the one that covers manufacturing defects in the parts fitted, such as a lock cylinder, a lock or an escutcheon, for the period set by law or by the manufacturer. It is different from liability for the fitting work.

It covers faults in the part itself, not normal wear, knocks or damage from tampering or an attempted burglary. To claim under it you are usually asked for the invoice showing the product.

Keep the invoice and, if you are given it, the product paperwork. If a new lock cylinder starts to fail, do not force it or grease it with whatever is to hand: tell whoever fitted it so they can check it. If the fault is in the lock, see lock repair or message us from emergencies.
