CISA is an Italian locksmithing brand with a long history. It makes locks, cylinders and other fastenings, and its name appears on many security doors, both with a European cylinder and with a double-bit key lock, the one with the long key that has teeth on both sides.
What we usually do with CISA
- Open the door when the key has been lost or the lock has jammed. On security doors we carry out security door opening, taking care not to damage the door leaf or the frame.
- Repair the lock when the bolts do not come all the way out, the key is hard to turn or the door only locks if you push it.
- Convert from double-bit to a European cylinder. Many double-bit locks take a conversion kit that swaps that key for a cylinder. That gives you more convenient keys, and in future you can change the cylinder without touching the lock. It is similar to the lever lock to cylinder conversion we carry out on older locks.
Why change a double-bit lock
For years the double-bit key was the norm on security doors. Today it has two drawbacks: if you lose the key, the lock has to be recoded or replaced altogether, and some older models can be opened with well-known techniques. With a security cylinder and a protective escutcheon the door is much improved.
Before ordering anything
Send us a photo on WhatsApp of the edge of the door, another of the key and another of the outside escutcheon. From those we can tell you whether your lock can be converted and give you a fixed quote before we start.
