EZCURRA is a brand we often see on security locks for front doors, including some with several locking points, the kind where turning the key also throws bolts at the top and bottom of the door.
What we usually do with EZCURRA
- Cylinder replacement. If the lock works and you only need new keys, we replace the cylinder and the lock stays as it is.
- Repair. When a locking point stops coming out, the key is hard on the last turn or the handle is loose, we carry out a lock repair. The fault is often an adjustment or a single part, not the whole lock.
- Replacement. If it cannot be repaired, we replace it with a compatible one, from EZCURRA or another brand, that uses the existing cut-outs in the door.
Locks with several locking points
In a multipoint lock the top and bottom bolts are linked to the central case by rods. If the door has moved, those bolts rub and the key starts to get stiff. Forcing it ends up breaking something. The right thing to do is adjust the door and the strike plates before the mechanism suffers.
On the coast you also need to keep an eye on rust on the outer bolts, especially on doors that open onto a patio or a terrace.
Upgrading without changing the door
If your EZCURRA lock has a basic cylinder, moving to a security cylinder with a protective escutcheon is a clear improvement without touching the lock.
