MUL-T-LOCK is a brand of Israeli origin well known for its high-security cylinders. It also makes deadbolts, padlocks and other fastenings. It is one of the brands people choose when they want to make a door hard to open.
What we usually do with MUL-T-LOCK
- Replace the cylinder when the keys have been lost or stolen, or after an attempt to force it.
- Fit one on a door that has a basic cylinder. We place it within our range of security cylinders and explain how it differs from what you have.
- Protect it with an escutcheon. A high-security cylinder needs an escutcheon to match. With escutcheon installation the cylinder is covered and cannot be gripped.
A good cylinder is not enough on its own
Fitting a high-end cylinder on a door with a loose frame, no escutcheon and exposed hinges is like putting a good lock on a cardboard box. That is why, when you ask us for a cylinder like this, we also check:
- That it does not stick out of the escutcheon.
- That the strike plate is properly screwed into the frame.
- That the hinges cannot be removed from the outside.
If any of those points falls short, we suggest whatever security upgrade is needed. You decide how far to go.
Keys
Some high-security cylinders only allow new keys to be cut with the owner’s documentation. Keep the card or document that comes with yours somewhere safe. We do not cut copies of keys.
Send us a photo of the outside of the door and the cylinder. We give you a fixed quote before we start, with the model we are going to fit.
