MOTTURA is an Italian brand of security locks. It is often found on security doors, with multipoint locks operated by a European cylinder or a double-bit key.
What we usually do with MOTTURA
- Repair the lock. In a multipoint lock faults usually come from the top and bottom bolts or from the rods that move them. We adjust it, replace the part or, if it cannot be fixed, replace the lock with a compatible one.
- Replace the cylinder. If the lock already takes a European cylinder, replacing it after lost keys is quick.
- Convert from double-bit to a cylinder. Many double-bit locks take a kit that swaps that key for a European cylinder. We explain it on the lever lock to cylinder conversion page, which follows the same idea.
Why upgrade the cylinder
A properly fitted MOTTURA lock is sturdy, but the door is only as strong as its cylinder. If it has a basic cylinder, it is worth replacing it with one of our security cylinders and protecting it with an escutcheon. That gives the door a big step up without changing the lock.
Heavy doors, doors that drop
Security doors are heavy. Over the years the hinges give a little and the leaf drops. You notice because it is hard to close or because you have to push for the bolts to go in. If you leave it, the lock works under strain and eventually fails. A timely adjustment prevents it.
