FAC is a brand you see a lot in Spain on deadbolts and on surface-mounted locks, the ones screwed onto the inside of the door. It also turns up on cylinders and on other lock hardware for homes.
What we usually do with FAC
- A deadbolt that is stiff or will not lock. We check the strike plate and the fixing. Sometimes repositioning the strike plate is enough; other times the deadbolt has to be replaced.
- Cylinder replacement. Many FAC deadbolts and locks take an interchangeable cylinder. If the keys have been lost, the cylinder is swapped and that is it.
- Fitting a new deadbolt. If your door only has the main lock, adding one of our security deadbolts is one of the simplest and most effective upgrades.
- A new lock. If the door needs a different lock, we carry out the lock installation, adapting it to the door leaf.
Where to put the deadbolt
A deadbolt works best set apart from the main lock, usually at a different height, so the door is held at two points. What matters most is not the deadbolt itself but the strike plate being properly screwed into the frame. A strike plate with short screws comes out with one kick.
The cylinder counts too
A sturdy deadbolt with a weak cylinder is not much use. If you are going to reinforce the door, take the chance to fit a security cylinder in the deadbolt and, if possible, key it alike with the lock so you only need one key.
Send us a photo of the door from inside and out. We give you a fixed quote before we start and you pay by card, Bizum or cash.
