Playa de los Náufragos is at the south-western end of Torrevieja’s old town, a kilometre and a half from the centre, just past the salt pier. It is a sandy beach of about four hundred metres with a Blue Flag, very busy in summer, with a tree-lined promenade behind it and a rocky stretch at its southern end, heading towards San Roque.
What the homes are like in Los Náufragos
It is an area of low-rise but dense building. There are blocks of flats of just a few storeys, ground-floor and upper-floor bungalows, terraced duplexes and some new blocks near the promenade. Many people live here all year round, and there are also summer flats and flats to let.
Being so close to the old town, it combines the best of the centre with the beach a step away. And that also brings what both areas have: lots of activity in summer and homes left empty the rest of the year.
What we are asked for in Los Náufragos
Lockouts in the high season
During the week it is a quiet district, but in July and August the call-outs shoot up: doors slammed shut, keys left on the towel or in the car, bags lost on the beach with everything inside. If it happens to you, see what to do under keys locked inside. We open without damage when we can.
Shutters on bungalows and duplexes
A ground-floor bungalow or a duplex with windows onto the street is easy to watch from outside when the house is empty. Shutter reinforcement means they cannot be lifted or bent, with a steel T-profile under the bottom slat and bolts that lock into the wall.
High-security cylinders on the front door
Many doors in the district have basic cylinders. If you want your door to hold out longer, fit high-security cylinders that resist snapping and bumping. It is a small change that makes a big difference.
